WATER CONSERVATION TIPS
- Check and fix leaking
faucets.
- Test toilet tanks with blue food coloring.
- If washing dishes by hand, rinse them in a pan of water.
- Only run the dishwasher when full.
- Only do full loads of wash and use a water level if available on your
washing machine.
- Put a bucket or pan in the shower to capture extra water.
- Before going to bed walk around your home when it is quiet and
listen for leaks and drips you may not hear during the noisy daytime hours.
- Reduce the number of toilet flushes per day. Use low flush toilets
or tank displacement inserts.
- Use a stopper in the bathtub when showering, and then sit your plants in
the standing water.
- Run a sink full of water when shaving instead of letting the water run.
- Teach children how to turn the lever faucets to half instead of
the whole way.
- Start running all bathwater on all hot. Once the hot water reaches your
tub, you can adjust it to the desired temperature.
- Use the water from cooking vegetables like corn to water your flowers.
Place a large bucket near your backdoor to collect these waters for outside use.
